India’s captain Virat Kohli praised Prithvi Shaw after his team won the two-match Test series against West Indies in Hyderabad on Sunday. The Delhi batsman said that Prithvi has the rare quality of being in control while playing aggressive cricket. He said:
Prithvi Shaw has grabbed his chance beautifully. He looks like someone who can get you off to starts that a team requires. It’s great to have a guy who is fearless, and he’s not reckless, he’s very confident about his game. It might look like he might nick a delivery but he hardly nicks the ball. He plays attacking cricket, but is in control. It is a very rare quality to have.
Virat Kohli was also impressed with Umesh Yadav, who became only the third Indian pacer to take 10 wickets in a Test at home. Ahead of the Australia series, he has given a selection headache to the team.
Shardul broke down and to take ten wickets is great. It was an outstanding performance. We’re all happy for him. I think it’s a great luxury to have . We have a headache to choose out of so many good quality bowlers. That’s a better position to be in than looking for bowlers.
