Spotify is reportedly in talks to acquire the podcast company Gimlet Media reports Recode. And if all went well the streaming giant will close a deal with the podcast company.

According to the reports of Recode, Spotify is offering to pay more than $200 million for the company. Gimlet Media, which was founded by Alex Blumberg and Matthew Lieber in 2014, has been one of the best in the podcasting market. It produces a wide range of shows, e.g business series, crime series, narrative dramas and many otherRecently, Gimlet has extended its attention from podcasting to film and television, as seen by its recent deal with Amazon to turn Homecoming into a series.

Now acquiring a podcast service like Gimlet will allow Spotify to continue to develop its own lines of original content and intellectual property, that will provide a great benefit from additional users and ad revenue. Also, it could keep its users engaged onto its own platform, rather than having them listen to podcasts on other platforms.
