Netflix has withdrawn the support for Apple’s AirPlay recently. The feature allowed people watching Netflix on their iPads and iPhones to instantly play the content on their TVs.

Netflix confirmed in a statment to The Verge that it pulled the wireless casting feature last week due to a ‘technical limitation.’ Netflix’s support page also says that AirPlay is no longer supported for use with Netflix.

Here is the Netflix’s official statement: “We want to make sure our members have a great Netflix experience on any device they use. With AirPlay support rolling out to third-party devices, there isn’t a way for us to distinguish between devices (what is an Apple TV vs. what isn’t) or certify these experiences. Therefore, we have decided to discontinue Netflix AirPlay support to ensure our standard of quality for viewing is being met. Members can continue to access Netflix on the built-in app across Apple TV and other devices.”

Later The Verge reported that the reason could be that Apple recently partnered with major TV brands to allow AirPlay 2 to cast shows directly to TV sets with a firmware update.

However, a Netflix spokesperson told the portal that AirPlay 2 doesn’t have the digital identifiers to let Netflix tell those TV’s apart and hence, the company can’t certify its users are getting the best Netflix experience when casting to the new TV sets.
