The Central Board of Film Certification has raised objections regarding four scenes and two dialogues in the upcoming biopic Thackeray, according to reports by ANI. The movie that has been directed by Abhijit Panse and produced by Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut, is based on the story of the late Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray, which is being played by Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
According to the reports a particular scene dealing with the Babri Masjid controversy and a dialogue that allegedly is a slur against South Indians are among the content that the board has taken issue to.
Speaking about the proposed cuts, ANI quoted Sanjay Raut as saying, “Yes, they have raised objections on some dialogues and scenes, four dialogues and two scenes to be precise. We are legally dealing the matter with CBFC and we hope the matter will be sorted out soon.”
When Times Now when asked about CBFC descision Nawazuddin Siddiqui said. “I am super excited to play a character like Bal Thackeray on screen. Yes, I got to know about CBFC cuts but I can’t speak much about it. Playing Bal Thackeray is like a dream and I am very happy about it,”
The Trailer of the movie was launched yesterday. The film is all set releases in Hindi and Marathi on 25 January, 2019.
