Today Instagram announced that will be updating timeline settings, offering users some extra control and also some benefits to those who have wanted their photo feeds to be ordered by timelines.

Instagram officially switched from chronological feed to an algorithmic back on 2016 for which some people were happy and some were disappointed too. It doesn’t mean that you were being fed a timeline that Instagram decided on, but it meant you might miss updates an update from a person as Instagram chose to move it down.

There have been many request for Instagram to bring chronological feed back, or at least give an option to switch between them as provided by Facebook. And it looks like Instagram has listened :

Based on your feedback, we’re also making changes to ensure that newer posts are more likely to appear first in feed. With these changes, your feed will feel more fresh, and you won’t miss the moments you care about.

Instagram hasn’t provide option to switch between the chronological view feed but now the users wont be seeing a week older post at the top on their timeline just because they haven’t check their Instagram feeds.

Apart from the timeline Instagram has also other major update which is a New Post button which allows users to control the time when their timeline refreshes instead of making automatic.
